AEQUITAS (Cyprus) has successfully implemented the mobility of youth workers named ‘Our Europe – Our Future’. The mobility was co-financed by the ERASMUS+ programme of the European Commission. The activity took place from the 15th to the 22nd of December 2017 in Limassol, Cyprus. The project brought together thirty-five young members/volunteers/youth workers from Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Poland, Portugal and Spain to explore the European Union and how young people perceive their future within the Union. More particularly, the participants worked together to look at what the European Union really is – a Union of solidarity, cooperation and human rights. In this way, the participants had the opportunity to discover founding principles such as human rights and the rule of law, discuss together how they wish to see the future of Europe, realise their role, as young people, in shaping such a future and, develop their European identity and citizenship for purposes of taking an active part in re-embracing the founding principles of the Union and combatting phenomena of hate and intolerance. The methodology was non-formal education, using human rights education handbooks, innovative methods such as flash mobs as well as theoretical presentations and debates.
